paper cuts and coffee stains

More products for Kaleido Konsthantverk!

The paper decorations are meant to hang in a window or a doorway. The sides fold out from the middle, I've sewn with green or red thread and they have a small tassle hanging down at the base :)

Below are coffee constellation cards. Made on good aquarelle paper with a Fineliner and then painted with instant coffee. I just love the warm brown color, effects – and smell!

Hospital art

Roland Persson

Fredrika Linder (all 3 above)

Torbjörn Johansson

A few weeks ago some colleagues from Kaleido and I went to Akademiska Sjukhuset (University Hospital) in Uppsala to look at some of the recently accuired public art works. It was very interesting. Just to have a really good look – see the different expressions, materials and solutions.

Psykiatrins Hus (psychiatric dep) has amazing work by Anders Widoff in the main entrance. I was lucky to have heard a talk by him about this work a few months ago. It was stunning to see it in real life. It's huge  and my photos don't make the artwork justice.
Also a huge sculpture by Frida Tebus called Finding Lithium and a breathtaking, large scale embroidered drapery by Kazuyo Nomura.

filling the void

This is my latest project for a group show called The Red Thread, at the Kaleido gallery this summer. This "necklace" is made of scraps of paper in many different qualities, folded and sewn on to a leather strap, the name of the piece is Filling the Void. Other exhibitors, apart from members of Kaleido, are a group of dutch artists from a similar cooperative in Holland: Galerie Zône. After summer the show will travel on to Leiden, in Holland, in the beginning of September.

last chance!

This is the last weekend of our show – and today the sun is shining! Since we're also hosting a Sketchcrawl during the day the weathers perfect. I'll post photos from that later.

in season

Spring changed it's mind today and turned back to winter. Icy wind, rain, red nose. And today happens to be my birthday... But I'm counting on sun and warmth again on Saturday when we open up Sigtuna Kulturgård and our show!

good times hard times

I've been away for a while now, Istanbul feels very distant. I always find it difficult to start blogging again, when I haven't updated in a long time...

Good times: these past weeks I've been busy with an exhibition I'm having with my studiomates. I've been working on some leaf drawings, coffee-constellations and on finishing my "cells". We're a group of 6 persons, and the rooms aren't that big, so I won't be able to show it all, I'll have to chose what fits best with the rest.

Hard times: my father is really ill and he's in my thoughts daily. It's tough and frustrating, wanting to do something, knowing you can't stop time.
I think a lot about time. Mostly I wish there were more hours to the day so I could do all the things I want/need to do. I could draw my "cells" for hours - if only I had more time. It's like meditation. Being absolutely focused on drawing each circle. At the same time I let anything that comes into my head, pass through. Relaxation for the mind.

constellations

Doodling on book pages.
I started out randomly filling in some "o's", then drew lines in between, many lines. They came to look like star charts. I then tried coloring with tea and coffee. Coffee was definately better, and I love the effect!

Ice constellations. It's melting fast now, today was the first day of spring!

valentines and visits

Valentines day came and went. We went skiing in the forest for an hour with the girls. It was the first time for me this year and it felt great. We brought hot cocoa, sandwiches and peeled oranges and ate them out in the open.

Valentines card from Rosa

Valentines card from Mattias. This is how he see's us.

Mattias (left) had visitors, two students from an artcollege in Cardiff, England. They came all the way to Sweden to interview him. Very ambitious and very nice.

A book cover collaboration that is on it's way to Israel and for Julie to finish!
