summer at Stora Kornö

Asta is not a natural swimmer, but we lured her in by throwing sticks in the water - she simply couldn't resist that :)

This years vacation in our summer cottage at Stora Kornö, small island on the West Coast. Looks like we had fabulous weather and not a drop of rain - which is almost true.

Mattias brought along loads of work. I brought along working material for my upcoming exhibition this fall. Working out there is simpler, without all technical devices and the duties of everyday life at home. We both get a lot done. But we did manage to get some sun too.

Modern life... we draw the line at phones - so no TV-set, no laptop (except for sending Mattias' work files).

H2O exhibition

Lena Junell Opgenoorth, felted wool
Josefin Friberg, porcelain
Elisabet Berg, re-used tin cans
Annica Danielsson Almén, concrete
Saturday the 18th of August is the last chance to see the beautiful exhibition H2O at Kaleido Konsthantverk in Uppsala. Don't miss it! This is just a small selection of my favourite pieces...

Artipelag outing

On Mattias birthday we went on a boatride to Artipelag - the beautiful art museum in the Stockholm Archipelago. Two amazing exhibitions: One, Two, Tree! about new Swedish wood design and the wonderful art of William Wegman; Hello Nature. We had a wonderful day.

pretty as a picture - the view through a museum window...

William Wegmans work - I just love it! Makes me happy.

FormDesign Center and Kasthall

FormDesign Center, a shop situated in the heart of Malmö, "is a meeting place for design and architecture. Here you will find a showcase of the very best contemporary Swedish and Scandinavian design." They are running a paper theme in the shop this summer. Three of my paper cups are available for purchase there (under the plexiglas covers).

A thistle of  mine can be seen in the shop window of Kasthall, Stockholm, during their summer display :)

Forming Words in Manchester!

Welcome to the opening of Forming Words in Manchester Craft and Design Centre!

The show has moved on from Flow Gallery in Notting Hill, London. 17 artists show a selection of contemporary craft objects inspired by text. I'm participating with three thistles, shown below.

I can't be there tomorrow when it opens, but I'd love to visit Manchester - hopefully I can make it there before the show ends in November.

Olivia's Mary Janes

I have to admit it - I love shoes...
These paper shoes are modeled after my daughter Olivia's old Mary Janes that she wore at the age of 6.

Epistle

The cup above is called Epistle. From a very old book that was given to me by one of my best friends.

I was featured on Paper Blog a while back...  I believe I missed to post the link so I'm doing it now. Ann Martin wrote it, she also runs the blog All Things Paper. Both links are great if you're into paper.

If you know Swedish you can read the talented Frida Arnqvist Engström's nice feature about me on Kurbits - she has an excellent eye and spots everything that's worth naming in modern Swedish design/craft/craftivism/diy etc.
