final touches

My show at Kaleido opens tomorrow!
I'm finally finished, everything is in place, I can't do anything more now than blog about it. My intention was to blog photos of all the pieces before the show opening... but things have been hectic, so I will have to do the updating afterwards.

Couldn't have managed without the help of Mattias, Annica and Paula!

Welcome to Kaleido all!

bathing beauties

They look a lot like like old-fashioned bathing caps, don't they? I named them Million Dollar Mermaid (top) and Neptunes Daughter (bottom) as an hommage to Esther Williams movies with the same names - which I haven't seen unfortunately...

The paper used is from an old norwegian childrens book I bought during my stay in Stavanger when I held a workshop there in spring. It's very thick and beautifully discolored, my guess is that it had a high content of wood, but I'm not sure about this.

papa bowl

For quite some time I have been working on papier maché objects for my solo show at Kaleido, but it's been long since I posted any photos. Starting today, I'll post pictures up until the show opens, August 28th. Here is a shallow bowl, 24 cm (9 inches) wide.

steaming hot!

Welcome back!
I haven't blogged for two months :( so this is mostly directed towards myself... I have a lot of updating to do but I'll start with the latest news. This past Saturday I held a bookbinding workshop at Sigtuna Kulturgård, the first workshop organized by myself in this location. Everything went fine, even though we were soaked in sweat before we even began to work, as the thermometer showed 30.9°C...! Luckily (?) there was no wind so we could open windows and balcony doors without paper blowing everywhere. We drank gallons of water, worked hard and had a great day.

Lunch consisted of soup (!!) and homebaked bread fixed by husband Mattias and served outside in the shade.
