congratulations!

Our oldest daughter, Olivia, turned teenager yesterday!
Thirteen years ago she brought the first snow along. Yesterday the fog lay like thick whipped cream instead, although the sun popped out long enough to say congratulations. It's hard to believe, the girls are growing so fast...

Her grandparents treated us all to a deluxe cake buffet, (eat as much as you wanted) which we all enjoyed (but our blood sugar went roller coasting).

more art in the mail!

Two more pieces from the Art Exchange in the mail for me! So far, art has been sent to me from the UK, the US and France. Feels like x-mas every time I receive a package!

in my bookshelf (I wish)

work by Anna-Karin Sjöblom, Monica Langwe, Adam Larsson, Cecilia Levy, Ebba Stålhandske, In Every Tree (Maria Larsson and Maria Olevik), Lina Nordenström and Elisabet Berg (photo courtesy Kaleido)

From December 1st I become a proud member of Kaleido, a cooperative containing around twenty craftsmen working with ceramics, textiles, blacksmithing, art jewelry and more. The store and gallery are situated in a warehouse by Uppsala’s train station. I'll be selling handbound journals and notebooks and other papergoods.

But first, this coming Saturday November 28th, an exhibition opens at Kaleido called Ur bokhyllan (From the bookshelf), where members and specially invited guests interpret what a book is. I'm participating with different bookobjects, the one in the top right corner is Resor utan mål (Travelling without goal) mixed media on a re-used book cover. The exhibition runs until January 3rd 2010.

Welcome!

last chance!

This is the last weekend of our show – and today the sun is shining! Since we're also hosting a Sketchcrawl during the day the weathers perfect. I'll post photos from that later.

for cold times

I have new mittens, lovely warm, grey ones. Made a swop with Ivar - he got a handbound book and I got these beauties. Happy hands.

Look at all these mail goodies I got in the past few days! Wow. In these dark November days, it feels like pure sunshine coming out of those envelopes. Thank you friends!

books workshop

Last week I taught bookbinding the whole week. In Sigtuna Folkhögskola the students were to make books inspired by dadaism. In Nyckelviksskolan, they made books about the route they took to school. All different and everything very inspiring!

art show!

So finally... some photos from the opening! Hectic hectic until the last minute of course, but when the guests started dropping in everything was in place! Even the delicious cheese buffet, thanks to Inger and Gösta from the café below. Mattias and I were both very satisfied with how everything turned out, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Gone were the dark thoughts from a few days before - when we were about to start hanging everything and it all felt hopelessly chaotic and we didn't know where to start. We said never again. But we snapped out of it :)

blog action day

My contribution to Blog Action Day '09: Climate Change

I'm re-using this illustration I did last year. It's called Save, as in Save the fish, Save the oceans, Save the world. We really must do something. If everyone decides on making small adjustments in lifestyle, it'll make a huge difference.

invitation in progress

Mattias and I are having an exhibition in a few weeks. We're making the invitation card and poster together; I'm doing the text and he's making a tree around it. First family collab in this way, exciting to see how it turns out!

home but out

Back home again!

It's been quite a shock to land in every day life again... Kavala feels like a dream. Fall is here and has pulled a blanket of cold, wet weather over us. Although today the sun is shining and the air is crisp – that I don't mind.

Saturday we went to the opening of an exhibition at Konsthantverkarna in Stockholm. My friend Lena Olson, jewellery artist, is exhibiting along with 5 other artists that all have the material wood in common. Exquisite work by all six.

Lena by her jewellery.

Artist Sam Stigsson, inspired by his garden. And I am inspired by his work!
